Another Small Sketchbook Review

Today, I invite you to peek into my sketchbook—a dynamic space where ideas are born, refined, and occasionally left to marinate for future projects.

My sketchbook is a diverse playground of artistic expressions, driven by my thirst for learning. It features detailed notetaking, thumb-nail diagrams, graphic design, architectural studies, and spontaneous sketches. Subjects range from sustainability building practices and renovation to typography, reflecting my curiosity and eagerness to expand my horizons.

I use a variety of mediums, from biro pens and fine liners to watercolours and brush marker pens. Pencil, graphite, and charcoal helped me explore shadow, tone, and texture, while continuous line drawing, hatching, and pastel work allowed me to play creatively.

Notes and annotations make future referencing easy, helping me understand and build upon past work. Inspiration comes from books and social media, which keep me updated and motivated. Technical precision varies with my energy, but I believe drawing, even imperfectly, is better than not drawing at all.

My sketchbook often serves as an incubation space for intuitive ideas, waiting to be developed into projects. However, I would like to create more fully formed ideas. Approaching design problems involves research and creative solutions, though I aim to improve my presentation skills.

Despite its fluid organisation, clarity remains a priority. Using fewer words and more colours can enhance readability. Flipping through my sketchbook, I see evolution—more colour and intention. The more I draw, the more I grow.

Looking ahead, I aim to balance creation and learning, dedicating more time to crafting final pieces and finding joy in the creative process.
